Capabilities of the latest iPod video

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

The capabilities of the latest iPod video carry on the developing process of the old capabilities – software, hardware and compatibility by means of other devices. About the software, it is fine-identified that the iPod on the whole and the iPod video during special play MP3, audible audio book, WAV, M4A/AAC, protected AAC, AIFF and Apple Lossless audio file formats. Ever since the 5th generation iPods there is another opportunity of playing m4v and mp4 MPEG-4 video file formats. Only non copy-protected WMA files may be copied to an iPod. Other formats are not likely to be played by the iPod and this is the circumstances of FLAC and Ogg Vorbis formats.

Besides, the iPods are specially designed for matching the iTunes media library software. This online song store appeared throughout 2003 and it sells songs and it was thought exclusively for the iPod users and not in favor of other portable music players. This might enjoy contributed to the achievement both the iPods and the iTunes music shop and to the great development and improvements of the iPod’s capabilities.

The software of the latest iPod video has modern features – modified recommendations and video happy that could be played on a Pc or else transferred to the iPod. The software was upgraded to Version 6, fact that represents a development and a distinct accomplishment. Relating to the hardware of the iPods one may say that the initial generation iPods were recharged simply all the way through FireWire with the assist of a small power adapter. The 4th generation iPods may enjoy been charged more than USB. The 5th generation iPod might be charged by means of the make easier of a dock connector allowing the FireWire cable to be plugged throughout for the recharge.

Compatibility of the iPods with Windows is the point of Apple, realized during 2002, reality that contributed to the creation of a Windows version of iTunes throughout 2003. The iPods might be made to be compatible by means of a Macintosh and there is as well an iPodLinux project. Any supplementary features can be mentioned but speaking approximately the iPods in general and iPod video during extraordinary. The iPods might display text files, reality which is very useful. There are too PDA calendars, any games that were attractive several years ago whereas they appear outdated nowadays. The games available on roughly every iPod except the iPod shuffle are brick, parachute, solitaire, song quiz. The most interesting game is the music quiz, playing some fragments of several songs and waiting the user to identify the song starting a list. The disadvantage of this game is that it uses a huge amount of battery power.

All these capabilities appear enhanced throughout the situation of the new iPod video except the creation of other games or the beginning of latest ones. This might be seen ever since a disadvantage, while only if captivating into account the fact that it is a situation of a portable song player this aspect does not enjoy such a big value.

The innovation is of course the video ability, even though the main features of the latest iPod stress on big improvements throughout the image and noise quality. The video image is surprisingly smooth and in this direction can replace the skeptical attitudes by means of joyful exclamations.

Even though it is not the primary struggle of bringing video on a portable handheld device, this achievement seems to be the most successful. This accomplishment is due to a large amount of required work and complicated changes throughout the software and hardware since fine. During a path or another, Apple seems to be the champion in creating special portable devices and maybe any other steps will be taken in the development of the small video portable devices. Throughout this direction, maybe a special compatibility by means of more than devices may be developed, ensuring other periods of enormous accomplishment. Other online stores can appear and expand throughout the tradition of the iTunes music shop. Due to iPods from the Apple Corporation legal satisfied of the downloaded and paid song or TV shows, episodes or else other materials is ensured.

5 Stars IPOD Dock Station
Product has big stereo sound for such a small unit. Very portable and convenient. Perfect for my son to listen to his Ipod at work. Didn’t really come with instructions for the remote or the device, but my son is very good at figuring out mechanical things for himself. Good communication with the company and they are very accommodating. Shipping was quick, and around Christmas time that isn’t always the case. I would recommend this product.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Excellent consolidator
Nice design and saves space on the desk. My only complaint is that charging only works when the USB connection to the computer is working. It seems the power adapter is only for providing power to the dock’s USB ports.

5 Stars Great multi-function dock for iPhone (3G)
Recently purchased this product from Amazon.com and it works like a charm. I connect my iPhone 3G and it also has a SD Card and 2 - additional USB ports! On top of all of this…the dock also looks great in a brushed silver. Its not manufactured cheap whatsoever. A must have for all iPhone or ipod owners.

4 Stars A pricely little wonder that looks completely Appled!
Hi All,

I bought this Simplifi to do two things….one to clean up my desk and get rid of the various usb cables and memory card adapters laying around, and two so I could drop my iPhone 3g in to the dock and let it sync/charge at night when I get home. It does both things and it does them perfectly. What I love is the look of the device…its completely Appleized ( a new verb perhaps :-)). It reminds me of a miniature airport extreme/apple tv with the rubberized bottom. The device is weighted perfectly so that it will not tilt when you put a ipod, iphone, etc. on it.

The box includes:

The simplifi.

An AC Adapter @ 5v.

A Mini USB to USB Cable.

Adapters - 9-10-11-12-13-14 (iPod Classic 80, iPod Classic 160, iPod Nano 2nd Gen, iPhone (1st gen and 3g), iPod Nano 3rd gen, iPod Touch, iPod video 5th gen 30 and 80gb models, iPod shuffle (via usb ports on back).

The unit basically has a dock on the top and memory card readers in the front that read Compact Flash, SD, XD, and Memory Stick. The back has the connection from the device via mini usb to the computer (using included usb to mini usb cable) and 2 extra usb ports.

There are some issues that people are having, not necessarily for me, that are related to the iPhone/iPod’s not charging unless the USB is plugged into the computer. My thought here is that you are buying a device which does more then just charge an iPhone/iPod…it is a USB hub and memory card reader. More then likely you will always have it connected via USB to your computer and always have the adapter plugged in so that the USB portion is powered. I would not worry about such an issue…it is not a deal breaker.

It is a great device and every function works perfectly well…I have had zero issues reading SD and Compact Flash cards, I have had 100% success with my iPhone 3g and my 160gb iPod classic. I have tested it on a MACBOOK, a Mac Pro, and a IBM Thinkpad w500 running windows 7. So YES…it is a cross platform device.

I gave it a 4 out of 5 for one reason only…the price. It is a pricey item and therefore will make more then a few people shy away from purchasing it.

Other then that Amazon shipped it quickly and saving on tax/shipping via 2nd day made it a easier purchase then it normally would have been.

PS. One other thing that I failed to mention that is a bit of a nuisance is that the included mini-usb to usb cable is a BIT short….it seems sized if you were placing this next to a laptop or attaching to the back of a apple display with usb. In no way is this cable long enough to reach a desktop pc/mac pro, etc… Luckily mini-usb to usb cables are not expensive and readily available. 5 Stars Simplifi is a perfect complement to my Mac
It just works - and keeps my desk tidy in the process. I’m not constantly swapping USB plugs to keep my portable devices charged and synched. It does exactly what I want it to do.

4 Stars great companion for the iMac
The iMac computer is an attractive, robust all-in-one desktop for everyday use. Nevertheless, it lacks some basic features needed to make it completely useful. First, if chosen with the wireless keyboard and mouse, it has only three USB ports. That’s a fairly small number compared to the typical user’s needs. What’s more, all three of those USB ports are located in the back of the machine, making it cumbersome to switch USB peripherals. Finally, the iMac lacks the built-in media card readers of some of its Windows rivals like the Dell XPS One. The result of these shortcomings is that iMac users must often buy a USB hub, an external card reader, and an iPod dock to accessorize their machines. That’s a lot of accessory purchases and a lot of desktop clutter.

For about $50, the Griffin Simplifi consolidates all three of these accessories into one trim box. The Simplifi connects via USB and then extends that USB link to a two-port USB hub, an iPod dock, and a built-in card reader. At first, that might look like a net gain of only one USB port, but since separate connections are no longer needed for standalone card readers and iPod docks, the net gain is actually three ports. Most iMac users will now be able to permanently connect all their USB peripherals while still leaving a port or two on the Simplifi open for occasionally connected devices like flash drives.

Griffin, a specialist in Apple accessories, no doubt had the iMac in mind in developing the Simplifi. That’s clear from the white-and-aluminum design with rounded corners. Still, there’s no reason why this device can’t be used with Windows machines or laptops. It’s useful in any situation in which there’s a need to conserve USB ports and desktop real estate.

The Simplifi’s main drawback is that both of its USB ports are placed on the rear of the device, making it still a little awkward to connect a flash drive or other device that is usually not tethered to the computer. Reaching the back of the Simplifi is a lot easier than reaching behind a computer, however. In addition, it would be nice if the Simplifi came with a longer USB cable for its connection to the back of the computer. The one supplied with the device appears to be only a foot long. Despite these small issues, the Simplifi is a great way to extend the iMac’s capabilities, and not a bad accessory for any personal computer.
