User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Great Sound, Short Lifetime
I was very happy with these when I first received them. They sound beautiful, the mic is great, they fit well and comfortably. However, within a couple hours of opening the case, the right channel started outputting sound at about 20% of the volume. I thought this was strange, and after testing on other devices, assumed this was a defective product. I returned it and asked for a replacement (hassle free, thank you Amazon), and received another.

The new pair arrived the next day. Sounded just as good, etc, etc. Less then 2 weeks later, the same problem occurred. I always treated these carefully, rarely removed them from the office, never stuffed them in a pocket or anything similar. Reading additional reviews has led me to believe this is common issue with this headset. Despite the excellent sound and isolation, $80 for a 2 week headphone is a bit steep.

Look elsewhere for your in ear headset needs. Sadly, I haven’t found another comparable pair yet.

5 Stars Excellent Earphones for the iPhone
I’ve been using the earphones for about a month now. At first, I had trouble getting them to fit in my ears just right and how they felt in my ears. I had to try the different sizes of the pads included but finally decided on the mediums.

As far as the sound quality, like what I a have found with other Sennheiser products (this is my 5th set of earbuds or earphones going back to my days in radio 20 years ago), the more you use them the better they sound. At first, the sound was a lacking on base and the treble was not quite right. The more they were used and I suppose the speakers got broken in, they seem to sound better. They definetly sound better than the Apple earbuds that came with my 1st generation iPhone.

It took a little getting used to the earbud layout having the cord go behind my neck. At times, the cord between the earbuds is a little short and if I turn my head and the microphone/clicker snags on something, one of the earbuds will come out but it hasn’t been too big of an issue. I went on a 45 minute run with them recently and had no problem with the earbuds staying in place.

I wish the cord guards were a little longer but so far the earbuds seem to be fairly durable. I typically carry them in my pocket when they are not in use. The cord doesn’t seem to get as tangled up as the Apple earbuds seem to.

Overall I am very satisifed with these earbuds. They were a great replacement to my iPhone earbuds…

5 Stars Nice headphones for iPhone
They sound good, and the little clicky thingy works exactly like on Apple’s. The microphone works fine indoors, people who talk to me have no problem hearing me. I have no idea how it sounds outdoors though. For folks whining about the bass reproduction, you need to fit them right with a good seal in the ear. Once you do that, they reproduce the sound the way it really sounds. Which isn’t how people seem to like to listen to music nowdays, with thumping bass and such, but these give me the same kind of sound that my expensive studio headphones give me, so if you don’t like studio-quality sound reproduction the problem is you, not these headphones.

2 Stars Good Sound/Poor Microphone Quality
The sound quality for calls and music was good. They fit well and it was a great experience until I used it to make calls. The microphone produced skips in the conversation, and a lot of background noise. This was especially bad when in a vehicle. I tried several different ways of running the cords, clipping the Microphone at different locations. None of this improved the quaility of the Microphone. The Microphone didn’t perform as well as the one that comes with the iPhone.

3 Stars OK earphones
These are good, but not great ear phones. The button on the microphone does not properly interact with my iPhone. They have a decent sound. In retrospect I would have gone with the Apple unit.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Comfortable, sound quality not what I expected
I bought this pair of headphones as a replacement for my apple earbuds for my iPod. The headphones are comfortable but lack the sound quality of the earbuds.

4 Stars Earphones
I bought these because I didn’t know the MP3 player had them with them. However, these are more comfortable than the ones in the box.

3 Stars not impressed
First I’ll say I got a great deal on mine. So I wasn’t too upset that the maximum volume wasn’t very high at all or that the buds kept falling out of my ears. I only used this when I worked out so I’m sure they would be fine if you used them for something other than an active hobby.

4 Stars For the price, they’re a good deal
I’ve had this since early march of this year and unlike the regular headphones i used to buy from riteaid and walgreens, i haven’t had any problems with these in terms of quality.

They stay in my ear and honestly block the sound out. they are comfortable, and i really don’t hear people when i have these on. No, i don’t use any fancy mp3 player, i just listen to music using windows media player on my dell axim.

I paid $5.99 for these and they still work. the only problem is that i’ve had the ear buds came off once and i put them back on and it was fine. I got it tangled the other day when i took trash out and while trying to untagle it in the parking lot, one of the earbuds fell of again (if it didn’t fall there, it probably fell while i was hurrying out of the building). i don’t know where the spare ones are at cuz i’ve moved since i purchased these and haven’t settled in yet. So i think i need to buy a new one, unless i can get replacement earbuds at riteaid or something.

If you need decent earphones for listening to music while walking down the street or riding in amtrak or greyhound, these are perfect. Mine still work, and i think it’s better to buy these than to buy the $11 ones they sell at the stores that promise base and while you don’t hear the base, one of the earbuds stop workin in less than 2months.

This one has lasted since march and still works. i think i’m going to hold off buying a new one and see if i can buy replacement earbuds somewhere.

oh, i forgot to say i love the adjustable sound thingamajig, i don’t have to reach for my pda to adjust the sound.

1 Star not worth the price
Sound quality is so bad. Something you’d expect from a dollar store. I do not recommend this item. However it may work for AM radio and/or low-bitrate eBooks (though I still think the price is way too high for this quality). Included Napster trial was expired.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Horrid
If you have HUGE ear canals… maybe… maybe these will work for you. Fidelity is fine. They work accoustically. But, they are big, hard and won’t fit in most peoples ears.

Want mine? I’m tossing them…

1 Star Poor quality sound
These are not Apple products even though they look like it in the photos. If you are not concerned about good sound buy them. You are getting what you pay for at the low price.

1 Star Poorly made ipod earbuds
I’m very disappointed with this product. After my daughter used these earbuds one time the cord at the plug in end pulled out and is now detached. It’s kind of funny that the free ones or cheaply purchased ones, which in my opinion are abused on a regular basis, are still in use. I bought these for a Christmas present to mach the shuffle from Santa.

1 Star Poor feedback, never received order.
Never received these items, seller won’t respond to emails or poor feedback left for them. Am about to contact my credit card company for a refund.

2 Stars Wanna Be iPod Head Phones
I was looking for a replacement for the white iPod earbuds (which I really liked) that come with an iPod when you buy one. So from the pictures of this one they looked promising. Not really that case.

When I recieved them I was disappointed, first in the look and feel of the earbuds. Second, in the sound quality of them.

LOOK & FEEL: These earbuds come in various colors, which I’m guessing is just something to make it more appealing to the customer to buy. But anyways, When I recieved them I right away felt that they were about have the weight of the real white iPod earbuds. I know earbuds are all about being lite and compact, but this was ridiculous. They also were very cheap looking and feeling. The plastic was very lite … I felt like I was going to break them. Also these “earbuds” come with those little foam covers that you have to use, otherwise the edges of the headphones will slice your ear open because it’s so sharp.

For some reason the creators of these earbuds think that you have to be dumbo in order to wear them. But I’m not going to complain about that anymore. If your an elephent named dumbo in need of some new earbud heaphones then, Rock On Dumbo.

Sound Quality: I’ll make this very brief. Bass doesn’t even exist with these earbuds. It’s all about treble, and thats it.

The only reason I gave these earbuds a two star rating ir because I was just looking for a pair of headphones that would be good enough for the gym. And they were, but If I could go back, I would have never bought them in the first place.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Worse than Skullcandys
I bought the JBuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds (Black) last August. They have stopped working completely in the left ear and are only working partially in the right ear. I thought that for $20 they would last at least a year. I would like to continue using them because they are comfortable and have good sound quality but are not reliable. I have now realized that Amazon has lowered the price to $9 so it is now a partially better deal, but they are reliable as an old car battery.

1 Star Stopped working
As a few other reviewers have noted, I too encountered the problem where one of the buds (in my case, the left) stopped working after only a couple months of use (even though it would sometimes come on intermittently, if the cord was moved correctly, I don’t think it should be considered “working” when you can’t stick your iPod in your pocket while you’re walking aroung and expect it to work consistently). The unfortunate thing is that the sound is actually pretty decent. I suppose you get what you pay for, though. The nine dollar price doesn’t really inspire confidence in their contruction. File this one under “too good to be true.”

2 Stars hmm dangerous for ears?
I have these headphones. But I am concerned they will damage my hearing because, they stick inside your ears. I try not to turn the volume way up. I hardly use these. I do however like the noise cancellation while at work on break. I don’t hear the radio going, or people blabbing. But I am very concerned about my hearing. Buy these only if you aren’t concerned for your hearing. So far I haven’t damaged my ears. I’m just too concerned with these, and looking for another pair.

4 Stars great bang for the buck
Never have had a set of ear phones that worked as well as the j buds. no problems, and the outside sound filtering is great!

5 Stars GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE, BOSE!
I have just received this product and trashed a nearly-new Ear Bud set from Bose (at ca. USD100.) This product (at USD13.) has considerably better performance and infinitely greater comfort than its Bose counterpart. I am absolutely pleased and amazed. (N.B. A few hours of “burning in” may be required in order to reach the full audio potential, however)

V MODA Bass Freq Earbuds Platinum White

V MODA Bass Freq Earbuds Platinum White

3.5mm Plug Size / Compatible with Personal CD Player, iPod, Computer, MP3 / Features In-Ear Acoustic Technology / Admits Outside Sound for Safety

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars v-moda bass freq VS. sennheiser cx-300
If you are looking for a reasonable set of ear buds to go with your new mp3 investment, the v-moda bass freq’s are a good choice. I own sennheiser headphones of various models and have always liked the way they sounded and still do. My favorites are the cx-300, which is what I want to compare the vmoda’s to, as they are closest in price and performance.

Let me say first and foremost that the cx-300’s sound brighter, the treble sounds crisper, and overall sound a tad more precise than the v-modas do. However, in the bass and midrange the vmodas, are incredible! Nice warm highs and mind numbing bass. If you listen to metal, rock, hip hop, or pop, the bass freq’s are fun as hell to listen to. If you like classical, piano, and the other mentioned genres, the senns may suit your needs a little better. Neither of these are audiophile earbuds, and couldn’t be at there price range, so if you are a stickler for perfection, look elsewhere. For the other 97% of us that want good sound quality, and want something that gives those goosebumps, when we hear that certain beat. Either of these make a great choice. Neither lack in the bass department, but the vmodas NEVER distort at the lowest frequencies. The senn’s do on occassion. You can actually make the vmodas sound crisper with a slight adjustment of the e.q. in your player and both of these phones sound similar. It’s all just a matter of preference, but you can’t go wrong with either set.

As far as reliablity goes, I can see the senns outlasting the vmodas as the senns look a little sturdier than the v’s do. Only time will tell and I will update if something happens. I like the fact the v’s come with a silicone wrap to neaten things up, but a case would have been even better. They both fit nicely in my ears and come with different size silicone, for different size ears.

To sum it all up…

If you are looking for a decent earbud look no further than either of these 2 sets. If you are a bass junkie, go for the vmodas. If you want overall good sound go for either one. At $25, they are both a steal and you will not be disappointed at all. Trust me, I have tried everything and I just think paying hundreds for headphone’s is insane. Unless of course you are an audio purist, than by all means. Do what you gotta do.

4 Stars Sound+Bass is amazing, durability lacks.
I bought these a month ago, i was very pleased with them; the bass was like no other and it was pretty immaculate at high volume. Exactly what i was looking for except the right driver unexpectadely stopped working after not even a month! I checked all the settings and fiddled around with its positioning but still.. no sound. This of course pissed me off after doing this much research. I guess you get what you pay for in this situation.

2 Stars Sound good, poor quality
Bought 1 pair for my wife and another for my son. Less than two months later I’m returning both pairs because they are shorting. My son is a teenager and I’m sure he moves around more than my wife…But my wife’s pair actually went bad first. Both are V-Moda Bass Freq Earbuds, both suffer from the same problem…I think I would look elsewhere for product.

5 Stars Huge Bass
These headphones are awesome. They offer a ton of bass, and great overall sound quality. If you’re not in to bass, they could be too much for you, but if you are, you’ll love them. They plug in your ears, which is pretty comfortable and provides excellent exterior noise cancellation. I bought them for $20, which is incredible value.

3 Stars A Bass-ic Earbud.
I bought these to compare to my Senheiser MPX70 Sport Neckband headphones, which have served me well, but are alitle light on bass. The V-Moda Bass Freq Earbuds do in fact have deeper bass, but the rest of the sonic spectrum is quite lacking. The mids and highs are somewhat muddled and fuzzy, especially compared to the Senheisers. I bought the Seinheisers on sale for $20 regularly $55, and the V-Modas also for $20. But the clarity and well rounded fullnes of the Senheisers blows the V-Modas away. If you have damaged eardrums and are incapable of appreciating the mid and upper frequencies then you might be happy with these.
