Important Note: Sound Effects
When using an auxiliary device in the car, you might hear a slight buzzing sound, engine noise, or high-pitched whine. That is because your car model has a grounding issue between the audio system and the power socket, which causes a whining or buzzing sound when you drive. 1 Star Poor Execution of a Great Idea
I really wanted to like this device, and the basic functionality works well. Any sound problems, as has been noted in other reviews, is likely caused by ground loop issues. In my car, it sounds clean with no background noise. Remote works fine, which allows me to keep my iPod in the center console, where it is hidden and out of the way. It would be nice if the remote had added functionality, but for play/pause/skip tracks/shuffle it works.

So why one star? When the car’s engine is off, the device drains all of the charge from the iPod if it is left attached to the LiquidAUX device. It doesn’t matter if you turn your iPod off…if it is attached , your iPod will be dead in a few hours (my iPod is a month old with no battery issues). This is a senselessly stupid design flaw that Kensington should have fixed. At the very least, Kensignton should have warned purchasers not to leave one’s iPod connected.

If you don’t leave your iPod connected, then this device should work well for you. Otherwise, I would wait until another manufacturer gets the design right.

1 Star Junk
As much as I’d like to love this product - convenient 3g iphone charger which has a steering wheel remote and simplistic charger/audio out, it simply doesn’t work.

Other users have commented (and I purchased two, to be sure) that there is a loud buzz - well, it is so loud that it makes the audio unusable. So, that makes it a $60 charger. Which, by the way, the charger doesn’t like the 3G iphone (apparently it was made for the 2G and just billed as 3G compatible) as it keeps trying to disconnect from the cell network.

I’d give this product lower reviews, if possible.

3 Stars Good overall, but needs better iPhone compatibility
Overall, I’m pretty happy with this product but have a couple of gripes.

1) There is some trick to getting the remote to work with the iPod app on my iPhone 3G. It usually works if the phone is already in the iPod app and a screen ready to play a file when I connect the cable to the phone, but if the iPhone is in any other state at connection time the remote usually does not work when I go into the iPod app. Of course, this may be a problem on the iPhone end rather than anything that could be improved in the LiquidAUX unit.

2) A small plastic piece on the charger/receiver unit fell off pretty quickly after a little use. It’s just a panel on the back where the connection light shines through and is not important, but they could have used better glue.

All that said, it does otherwise work as advertised. My iPhone sounds great through my car sound system.

4 Stars A great accessory for your in-car iPod setup hindered only by electronic noise
I look for three things in any in-car accesory…safety, ease of use, and product quality.

#1. Safety - This product makes it so I don’t have to take my eyes off of the road to change tracks on my iPod. Something that I’m sure everyone else on the road is very happy about!

#2. Ease of Use - Not only does the remote have track forward and back, but play/pause and shuffle! It mounts right on your steering wheel (wherever you want to put it for easy access) so it’s always where you want it. It works with the iPod classic, iPod Touch (1 and 2g), and the iPhone (original and 3g).

#3. Quality - It’s a Kensington product, so you know it’s well-built…the cloth-wrapped cables are a nice touch

My only complaint is that this product has little-to-no noise isolation (ground loops, anyone?), so you need a ground-loop isolator such as the Peripheral Pgli35 3.5mm Ground Loop Isolator to avoid any electronic “whine”. Other than that, it is a great product that is extremely easy to use.

4 Stars Good concept - and a good implementation
After trying the deluxe version of this product (Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe Auxiliary Car Kit with Remote for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G I figured this one was missing the part that caused me all the grief - the holder. So I bought a $10 vent holder, and this.

It works exactly like I expected it to. The sound is excellent, the alternative holder is rock solid, and the iPhone doesn’t suddenly decide it’s not connected to the stereo system/charger. There seem to be lots of variants of this device for the iPod, but this is it for the iPhone. So I’m glad it works as well as it does.

If only I could get a holder that would plug plug it in at the same time, I’d give this five stars.

4 Stars This is great
I was going to surprise my husband with this as he missed my call while listening to music and didn’t recognize my ringtone since he could not see the phone and thought it was just music. He had ordered a holder that fit in the vent unbeknownst to me. We got them on the same day, and he likes this one much better! He is in his truck most of the day, and he was quite skeptical, but has grown to really appreciate this item. I just discovered the landscape ability with the holder which will help with email and IM in landscape mode. Took him a day to figure out how to take the phone out with the release button but now wouldn’t be without it. Good construction and user friendly for any size device. I should have given it 4-1/2 stars really, but the release is a little tricky to catch the phone as you release it.

4 Stars Good Product
I really like this product. The stiff arm is a nice design and holds my iPhone snugly and securely. The suction cup is made to hold well and has not come off once. The only reason that I take away a star is that the release button on the back of the phone holder is sometimes difficult to release so the ratcheting side panels don’t ratchet. This is just a minor alignment problem with the plastic relase button and a small drop of 3-in-1 oil would do the trick if I would just remember to do that. Other than this small problem I would recommend this.

3 Stars Good Product.
Nice procduct, suction cup works very well. Only problem that I found is the arm release button is a little hinky and the fact that it hangs from the window is awkward. Beside that, it’s a good product.

4 Stars So far, so good!
This car mount has been good so far! The suction cup has held on tight for as long as it’s been on the windshield. My iPod has not slipped in any way. The only bad things are: It bounces quite a bit which makes it hard to read the screen when the car is in motion. You may have a different experience in a different car (I drive a 2009 Toyota Prius) or if you have a smaller, lighter iPod or phone (I have a video iPod about two years old). Also I wish that the info stated that the mount included an Auxillary Cable (I ordered one,then had to cancel the order). Other than that, it has been a worthwhile purchase. It’s very handy!

This mount does not work well. It looks bad, falls off my window, and is just plain awkward.

It was returned. Not recommended.

You should try the ProClip mounts. They are the best. They are made specific to match your device and car. You buy the device holder and then the car mount that is made specifically for your vehicle. They are wonderful. I bought a set for my iPhone 3G. I Love my ProClipUSA mount.

Complete waste of time and money. Ordered product, recieved it, used it for a week and didnt function properly. Contacted customer service and they promptley sent me a second product for no charge. Second time around still no good. Will be contacting customer service for full refund.

2 Stars Bad product, good customer service.
I was not impressed with this product at all. It made all the songs on my iPod Touch 2G sound like an out of tune radio station, no matter what frequency I had it set to. The remote works if you point it directly at the unit, otherwise it doesn’t, and the gear that’s supposed to prevent the unit from tilting, doesn’t. The part that is inserted into the cigarette lighter was broken out of the box, and the whole thing felt clunky. I returned it, and the customer service was pretty good.

I’m really surprised at how many good ratings this thing got. Maybe most people don’t mind static, and distorted highs when listening to music?

5 Stars Great Product!
When i first got this is didn’t fit in my 99 civic so Satechi sent me the extension arm for free. This thing works great! It started off with some static but it quickly ended after a few days. The trick is to turn the ipod volume almost all the way up and then adjust your car volume to whatever you want. It takes a little bit of time to find a good station but once you get one you are good to go. My friends have seen this in my car and now they all want one too. And the customer service people at Satechi were really friendly when i contacted them about the extension arm.

5 Stars This Really Works
This really works. Received the unit in two days, took it out of the box, plugged it in, and all the ipod music I can listen to. Other reviews state that the cigarette lighter adapter is too long, and they were right. When Satechi contacted me, I replied concerning the adapter. They in turn sent a shorter adapter with a goose neck free of charge. I couldn’t be happier with the product or the customer service.

I didn’t receive the item pictured. The part I did receive actually makes my 3rd gen. ipod play music garbled after around 30 seconds of playback. The product is junk (whichever product it is that I DID receive), and the company untrustworthy. Don’t waste your time or money with either.

I have a Navigon 7200 and this gets it off the dash to accomidate the straight mini USB plug that come directly straight down on the bottom of the unit. It stays in place and keeps it down below the sightline of the windshield. I can take it down and get it out of sight when leaving my car and not have any clues it is in the car. Remember, the suction cup circles on the windshield are a giveaway to potential thieves. I got mine from antoline at a very good price and so far have no complaints. I recommend it!

4 Stars Great for my Nuvi
Works well with my Garmin Nuvi 755T. Holds it in place, we can put it on the dash or the front passenger seat, if available. My wife can move it towards her to look at it, and I can move it back. It also saves us the bother of attaching and detaching the suction cup from the windshield everytime. Instead I suction-cupped the mount that came with my Garmin to the beanbag and leave it attached, easily removing the GPS when I’m done with it so we can take it with us, and hiding the beanbag with the attached mount beneath the car seat.

True it doesn’t seem to slip around but it is cumbersome and in a smaller car can end up covering your air vents. I also don’t get how the GPS is supposed to sit on it? Are you supposed to mount the GPS to the suction cup mount and then suction it to the plate? I think this may be the new “pet rock”, something you really don’t need. A better description of how to use and showing a picture with a GPS unit on it would be helpful in deciding whether or not to purchase. Right now it’s hanging out in my back seat!

5 Stars better than the round bags
the square shape is exactly the size of a standard car stereo width. so it looks nice directly above it. plus, if you have a shelf in your console, it will fit there for storage.

we have a TomTom 720 and it’s the only bag that will work with the stock mount. just barely though, it sits right on the fabric. as said, very stable and easy to store due to the shape.

yes, the bottom is a freaky polymer, touch it.

5 Stars GPS beanbag dashboard mount
The Gilsson beanbag GPS mount performs exactly as I anticpated. The GPS suction cup securely attaches to the beanbag mount. The mount is of adequate weight, width, and along with the friction surface, keeps the GPS exactly where it is placed. In one of my cars, the dash even slopes away from the windshield. The mount stays in place.
