When it comes to planning a wedding, the food can be the most costly part of it. You’re fortunate if you can get food for your guests for less than $50 a person. But if you’re on a budget, you have a choice.

Do you have fewer guests, or do you simply not feed them? Instead, how about you break out a cookbook and find some wedding recipes to make your own food for the reception?

The benefits of making your own wedding food are many. You have more control over the cost, first of all. Second, you can control the ingredients. When you make your own food and choose the ingredients, you can guarantee that all the reception food fits all the dietary guidelines of your choosing.

Of course, your wedding day will be very busy, so are going to have to plan ahead. Test all recipes ahead of time. You also want to choose recipes that can stay fresh in the fridge for a few days, or freeze well.

Enlist the help of your family and friends. If you give them plenty of notice, several will be happy to set aside time a few days before the big day to help you make your wedding recipes.

The toughest part could very well be choosing which recipes to serve to your guests. There are thousands of possibilities. Peruse cookbooks at the book store, and perhaps buy a couple that each have several good ideas.

The best resources, of course, could be the internet. Dozens of great recipe sites boast thousands of recipes. Spend a few hours doing your research, and you could put together the perfect menu!

There are lots of things you might consider serving at your reception. Consider skewered meats served with fine sauces, tea sandwiches (carrot, pimento, cucumber & cream cheese, etc.), potato skins with unusual toppings, wedges of pita bread with dips, crackers with smoked salmon, etc.

Be sure to look for the right wedding recipes that are delicious, but not the ordinary party fare for a Saturday night get-together. That way, the event and food will stand out in your guests’ minds!and in yours.
